Memorial to 19th Battalion & Armoured Regiment

This small memorial was erected on the Town Belt near the
Badminton Hall in Ruahine Street in 1966. An Evening Post article
stated:
"The 19th Battalion and Armoured Regiment Association has arranged
with the City Council reserves department to have trees planted
nearby to commemorate the places where the unit served, including
an Italian cypress, an olive and a Lebanon cedar. The association,
which is meeting the cost of constructing the memorial, hopes
wives, parents and families of those who died in service with the
unit will feel they have a part in the memorial."
